Disruption details: Minor delays due to a deer on the tracks between Forest Glen and Glenmont, trains are operating at a reduced rate speed in both directions..
Rail line(s) affected: Red Line in both directions.
UPDATE:
WASHINGTON-- Passengers riding the Metro don't usually have to worry about seeing a deer on the train.
But that wasn't the case Sunday morning.
Metro trains have been delayed on the Red Line because a deer managed to get on the underground portion of track between the Forest Glen and Glenmont stations.
Metro officials tried for four hours to remove the deer.
Train service stopped Sunday morning.
A Metro spokeswoman told WTOP Radio that the deer frightened passengers by coming onto the platforms several times.
In order to resume service, Metro officials had to kill the animal.

Deer on Metro platform
Hi, what you did not see, was if a deer could get on platform, other fare evading persons could also & get injured! Holes in station area was not to uncommon yrs ago & I guess still is! Best guess is neighborhood kids messing with the fence, just like the Amtrak fence where a mother & child were killed in New Carolton area yrs ago. Fence security design is important & may have even been tampered with my Metro or contractors going home quicker.Lightning

DC Metro Subway Cars Opening Doors Off Platform
This is not a new problem, yrs ago the operators used to open doors off platform. Usually it was when only one door was off platform & operators were penalized for this infraction! I observed it more that once & reported it to Central Control which could find no evidence of it. This makes me believe it likely occurs more that what gets reported back! Also, if WMATA is going to stick with manual door control for a while, an easy fix should be at hand, just have operators assume
all trains/concists are 8 cars. So what if the consist stops further ahead one car, the riders will adjust!
